| Centipede
is a coarse textured lawn grass with a
"light-green" color. It is often called
the "lazy-man's" lawn grass because of it's low
maintenance requirements of less mowing and less
fertilizer.
If you want a "deep
green" lawn, you need to select a variety of lawn
grass other than Centipede. High nitrogen
applications can damage the grass. |

Used extensively throughout
the
Southeast and along Gulf coast areas (except near beaches - does
not like salt conditions). One of the best low maintenance warm
season grasses that can be grown from seed. This grass
almost takes care of itself if there is enough moisture available.
Has some shade tolerance... but not high amounts. Does best in
high shade created by pine trees rather than oaks.
Centipedes usage areas
cover lawns, golf course roughs, parks, reclamation areas, utility
areas and ideal for commercial, low impact areas requiring
less maintenance. Not for use where there is heavy
traffic "wear" on the grass. It is not as deep
rooted as the other warm season grasses, thus it tends stop
growing under severe drought stress. Centipede turns a light brown
color under stress; "frost / drought".
